Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his home with volunteering in the community. First of all, he was raised with Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They lived on an agricultural property near Eufala in Oklahoma as one of their nine children. In football, he played alongside three brothers from Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland and Lombardi Awards. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. Also, they won 2 national titles. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975 and named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon obtained his diploma in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in college. Following college, he relocated in Tampa and played nine seasons for Tampa's Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro for three occasions. He then began his professional career. In 1988, as an account relations officer at First Florida Bank of Tampa He was a member of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as one of the top 10 youths from the United States. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 7-foot-2. When he was playing for college, he was the head coach of the team of 1975. In 1993, he was appointed the athletic director's assistant at University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
